Amanda Carson-Wong, Ph.D.

Dr. Carson-Wong completed her undergraduate degree in neuroscience at Vanderbilt University. She went on to earn a MA in Psychology at Columbia University-Teachers College and an MS and Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. During her time at Rutgers, Dr. Carson-Wong worked with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, and adjustment issues. In addition, she received specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for individuals with borderline personality disorder, trauma, and those who engage in self-harm behaviors.

Dr. Carson-Wong completed her pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral training in the VA Boston Healthcare System. Here she worked in inpatient, outpatient and residential settings with Veteran's who experienced difficulties with adjusting post-deployment, depression, and anxiety. In addition, she received specialized training in the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder and substance use.

Dr. Carson-Wong specializes in the following treatments:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) for individuals with difficulties with emotion regulation
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for individuals with traumatic experiences and PTSD
  • CBT and DBT for individuals with anxiety and depression
